IN MEMORIAM - DANNY A. AMRINE

Danny Amarine

Danny A. Amrine, 54, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006. He had been an associate at Naylor, Williams & Tracy, Inc., for more than 12 years. Before that, he worked for Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Support Enforcement Unit, including service as an Administrative Law Judge. Previous to that he was an associate for Hood & Associates, and an associate with Jacobus & Associates.

Danny was an active member of the legal community. He had just been installed as the chairman of the Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section for 2006. He had held many leadership positions in the OBA Family Law Section over the past 10 years.

Danny was a regular on the Tulsa County Bar Association Law Week Committee. Many of his Tulsa colleagues will remember being recruited for the mock trial of Goldilocks v. The Three Bears. Danny arranged for 4th and 5th grade schoolchildren to come to the courthouse during Law Week to observe the trial and sit in judgment of Goldilocks. He regularly played the part of Pop A. Bear.

Danny will be remembered for his willingness to share his knowledge of the law with colleagues. He was a regular at Family Law Section continuing education seminars, with particular emphasis on topics involving child support. Regulars on the OBA-Net electronic message board were used to Danny’s postings that always featured legal wisdom, practical advice and good humor.

Danny was a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Oklahoma Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

In addition to his contributions to the legal profession, Danny was an active member of the Tulsa Central Rotary Club, including service as club president. His passion, though, was music. He played the trumpet in the Will Rogers High School band, University of Oklahoma marching band, and Tulsa Community Band. He remained involved in all these organizations throughout his life.

Danny was born on December 18, 1951, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Andrew and Betty (Frye) Amrine. He received a B.S. degree in Zoology from Oklahoma University in 1973 and Juris Doctorate from University of Tulsa in 1982. He was an Eagle Scout. He is survived by a daughter, Ferrin Amrine, sons, Patrick and Nicholas Amrine, all of Tulsa; sisters, Diana Cantero of Tulsa and Peggy Noble of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 5110 S. Yale, Ave, Ste 101, Tulsa OK 74135.
